Kashmir solution must for regional peace
Srinagar, December 07 :Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani has given a call for peaceful protests on Friday against the stepped up state terrorism unleashed by the authorities to stifle Kashmiris’ voice for their inalienable right to self-determination.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that the purpose of the call was to attract the world attention towards the sufferings of the people of Kashmir and the unabated human rights violations by Indian police and army in the territory. He reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the liberation struggle till its logical conclusion.
On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik was accorded rousing welcome at Srinagar airport on his arrival from Saudi Arabia after performing Hajj. He was taken to Maisuma in a large procession where he addressed a big rally.Muhammad Yasin Malik called for resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiris to make the Pakistan-India dialogue process meaningful. He said that durable peace would elude South Asia unless the Kashmir dispute was resolved.
Hundreds of people took to the streets in protest against the beating of the civilians by Indian troops at Satkozi village in Handwara. The protesters said that the troops entered the houses and started thrashing the inmates indiscriminately without any reason. They demanded revocation of the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act and other such laws granting immunity to troops.
