Probe on to corner down stone hurling ‘instigators’: Sahai

KDNN;A top police officer in Jammu and Kashmir Thursday said that his department was probing the role of people “responsible for instigating stone hurling protest” in the Valley.
After remaining calm during the summer and autumn months this year, fresh stone hurling incidents particularly in Srinagar’s Old City have been taking place since past over month.
Inspector General Police, Kashmir Range, S M Sahai, told a local news gathering agency that there were “some elements who were behind the stone pelting incidents.”
“Police was investigating as “who are the people responsible for instigating youth in stone pelting incidents,” he said.
“These stone throwing boys should have pen and book in their hands, but instead they are given stones. Those people who give stones to these children are not well wishers of Kashmir,” Sahai said.
The IGP denied the allegations that they arrest people without any evidence. “We don’t arrest any person without evidences,” he asserted.
“Initiation of counseling programme will continue as it has shown good response from the boys who have already been released as they don’t indulge in stone throwing incidents again. It is a success for the Jammu and Kashmir Police,” he claimed.
The IGP, however, said that only police cannot curb the stone throwing ‘menace.’ “Parents and guardians should also play their role,” he remarked.
