Breaking of Dead lock between media, speaker

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday expressed his happiness on what he termed ‘ end of deadlock’ between the media and the speaker of the legislative assembly. Talking to KNS Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that there was some communication gap between the media persons and the speaker that was finally resolved today amicably by the speaker.

Asserting that his government was enjoying a very good working relationship with the press and both media and government were playing their defined role constructively, Omar Abdullah said that media was fully cooperative in discrimination the right information to the people and highlighting the achievements of his government. Clarifying his statement which he gave on the floor of house the other day while winding up the discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governors address, Chief Minister said that he was actually referring to the allegation made by PDP frequently that his government was surviving only because of media. Omar hoped that media will continue to play its role of fourth estate in strengthening the democratic institutions in the State. When asked why efforts were not made to break the deadlock earlier, Chief Minister said that he had appealed both the media and the speaker on the floor of the house but some misunderstanding had cropped due to which it stretched over three days which was unfortunate.
