The Indian Army helicopter that had strayed into Pakistan-administrated Kashmir due to “inclement weather” on Sunday and was forced to land by the Pakistan Army has been released, reports said.
The Cheetah helicopter, part of the Indian Army's 666 Siachen Falcons squadron was reportedly forced to land in PaK by Pakistan military after it strayed into PaK while flying from Kargil to Leh.
“The helicopter had come deep into our air space. It was forced to land. Four Indian Army officers had been taken into safe custody,” Chief military spokesman of Pakistan Army Maj Gen Abbas was quoted by Pakistani media as saying.
Indian Army sources said the helicopter straying into PaK wasn’t a deliberate violation of Pakistani air space.
The detained Indian Army personnel included a colonel, two majors and a junior commissioned officer, sources said.
