CRPF go berserk in Kulgam after stone pelters tried to put their camp on fire

Anantnag, September 09: CRPF personnel’s of 18th Battalion, went on a rampage in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and beat pedestrians including outside State labours to pulp on Monday when a stone pelting mob tried to put their camp on fire.
According to reports CRPF men deployed in Kulgam Chowk thrashed people mercilessly and smashed the window panes of private vehicles. CRPF men were seen beating everyone whosoever came in their way. They even did not spare media personnel and snatched cameras from them.
Reports said that top police officials reached Kulgam Chowk to ensure free movement of people. “It was only in the presence of these police officers that people dared to walk along the road,” a resident said.

However, CRPF contradicted the claims of locals and said that they chased away the stone throwing mob after they tried to set on fire their camp.
“From last three days these youth happen to come and attack our camp by throwing stones but we didn’t retaliate at all and continued to defend ourselves, of which we have detailed video shootings but today at around 12:15 pm they crossed all limits and put mat of the morcha on fire that is the reason we came out and cased them away.” Commanding Officer, 18th Battalion told Early Times.
Denying any kind of violence, he said that CRPF Jawans chased away the stone throwing mob for self defence and said that they also video graphed the whole incident that took place today.
