As the state government virtually and evidently failed to accommodate the expenditures of the Panchayat members despite repeated hallow promises, these members have started shockingly worst corrupt practices to earn handful money for theirlively hood.
Locals in Logrigam Aishmuqam Anantnag told Early Times that panchs of the village have fixed a rate for signing up the documents of the villagers besides compelling people to pay bribe the officers for redressing their grievances.
“If we need sign of the panch on any document we have to pay Rs 15 it is fixed rate and for seal and sign rate is much high than it.” Mohd saleem, a local said.
Bilal Ahmad, a resident alleged that Panch, shakeela Akther baked by ruling party National conference along with Panch Afrooza and Gulam
Mohmmad Chopan are openly demanding money besides compelling residents to bribe officers in case residents required to resolve their issues. Shockingly, documentary proof lying with early times reveals that Panch Shakeela Akther, Afrooza and Gulam Mohmad Chopan has certified
two opposite candidates who have applied for the post of Aagan Wadi
Centre, as the residents of the same ward that was proved wrong after
the deputy commissioner Anantnag disposed off the case in his court.
Signed on 02 December 2011 by the trio panhs, document submitted to
deputy commissioner Anantnag reads that the appointment made in the
Aaganwadi center Peer Mohallah Lagripora is fear and the objection
made by the one Shugufta w/o Bilal Ahmad is baseless while as on the
trio panchs on 27 January 2012 after a month’s gap signed again in
favour of Shugufta plus requesting DC Anantnag via SSP Anantnag for
cancellation of the earlier documents.
Bilal who least hope to get justice from the administration as well as
social welfare department says that corruption after Panchayat
elections has increased double fold especially in rural areas. But
interestingly state government and the concerned department is in no
mood the curb the mal practices of these members elected by the people
through democratic ways for sorting out social issues and disputes of
trivial nature in their area.
A government official revealed that the Panchayat members mostly
illiterate are being used as agents by the officers in their corrupt
practices.
