Will launch nationwide agitation if elections aren’t held on time: G A Mir

Jammu Kashmir State Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Wednesday threatened to launch nationwide agitation if the state assembly elections aren’t held with six months of presidential rule.

“It (deferring assembly polls in state) will be totally undemocratic because we (Congress) is maintaining this since last June that elections should be held on time and now if these elections are delayed we will start a nationwide agitation against Central Government as well as state administration,” Ghulam Ahmad Mir told reporters at Omoh Verinag after addressing a convention of ‘first time’ voters.

He said that deferring polls in Jammu Kashmir will raise questions at National level viz-a-viz the situation prevailing in the state.

Mir said that in coming months, Congress will start a massive movement unite the country and fight back communalism. “Our constitution has given us secular India therefore in coming days we will unite Inida,” he added.
