Army continues its efforts to prevail peace in Kashmir .

Anantnag, Nov, 05: Summer 2011 usually remained busy time for the army and  police in Jammu and Kashmir, with protests from separatists and stone pelting youth keeping them on tenterhooks. This year too the security personnel are having a hard time. But rather than engaging militants or stone pelting youth on the streets, they remained busy organizing the cricket tournaments and other cultural programs in the valley.
Armed forces this time  used sports activities a medium to bring social change. In the North-East, disciplines such as football, boxing and archery had made a major impact in weaning youth from drugs. Similarly, in Kashmir, the army wants to use cricket not only to improve ties with the people, but to also provide the youth a chance to showcase their talent and hopefully make it big some day.

On Saturday, Headquarters 15 Corps, while continuing its efforts to engage youth in sports activities and encourage the youth to develop sportsmanship spirit amongst them,  organized a friendly cricket match under Sadhbhavna between the Rotary Club, Kolkata and the district team of Anantnag.
In a nail biting match between Rotary Club, Kolkata and the district team of Anantnag, Anantnag- 11 stood victorious by 65 runs & lifted the trophy. Mr Choudhury was adjudged the Man of the Match.
National conference Senior Leader and Member Parliament Dr. Mehboob Beig, , District Commissioner Mr Syed Kifayat Rizvi, Brig JVSNV Prasad, Commander 1 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, and Dr. Yasin Ahmed, Principal Khanabal Degree College, besides this there were several other prominent citizens who also graced the occasion.
