In South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Food,
Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department is allegedly floating norms
while distributing and dumping Kerosene Oil at designated depots, Early Times
Learnt on Monday.
According to officials, privy to the development, the
employees of the department don’ escort the vehicles (oil tankers) and drivers
at their will dump and distribute kerosene oil. According to norms, employees
of the department, at least one employee has to escort the vehicle to ensure
oil is dumped properly.
On Saturday late evening at around 8:00PM, newly elected
President of Municipal Committee Aishmuqam Wahid Ahmad Bhat asked the driver of
an oil tanker to stop dumping of K-oil in late hours and asked him and the
dealers to dump the oil at depots only in the morning.
“Driver and a local dealer agreed that they will dump oil
only in the morning when I raised objections and contacted the officials of the
department but on Sunday morning I found the vehicle missing,” claimed Wahid.
He claimed that depots that were supposed to get K-oil from
this vehicle had already received supply a few days ago.
Vehcile according to documents of agency and department has
left at around 4:00pm from Anantnag Food office towards Pahalgam. Before reaching
Aishmuqam, the vehicle has dumped supply at least at five depots of Pahalgam.
A local dealer, Bilal Habib claimed that he received supply
from the same oil-tanker at around 5:00pm.
Wahid said that department will send more supply for
Aismuaqm Bazar depot but Bilal claimed that supply of same depot was dumped at
other depot for some official reasons.
Assistant Director Food Department Anantnag told this
reporter that he will visit the area to ascertain the facts; however ET learnt
from credible sources that he didn’t visit.
An official, who wished anonymity, claimed that Kerosene-oil
meant for people goes to Macadam plants and is being sold in black market
