A day after National Conference spokesman Dr Mustafa Kamaal asked Congress to put its house in order, the partner Tuesday asked the ruling coalition partner to “restrain” its spokesman for “highly objectionable” remarks against it.
Reacting sharply to Kamaal’s statement asking party it to iron out internal differences for smooth functioning of Omar Abdullah-led government in the state, Congress state General Secretary and official spokesman Ravinder Sharma termed the utterances as uncalled for and unwarranted. “Kamaal should desist from issuing sermons to the Congress party,” Sharma said, according to a statement sent to PBI.
Sharma, who is also member of the state legislative council, said that Dr. Kamal is habitual of issuing highly ‘objectionable statements which harm the interest of the coalition.’
“The Congress party demands the National Conference leadership to restrain Dr. Kamal from such utterances otherwise party would be left with no option but to seek his dismissal from his party.”
At a party rally in Kulgam district, Kamaal had reportedly appealed Congress leaders to set aside personal conflicts and differences. “For the sake of people's aspirations let Omar Abdullah complete his mission,” Kamaal, who is also Additional General Secretary of the NC, had said.
“The differences within the Congress party are having a bad impact on the functioning of the government,” he had added.
