Srinagar, January 18 :Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has called for a shutdown in the Kashmir valley on January 26, the Republic Day of India.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued from New Delhi, urging people to boycott functions being organised by the authorities and Indian army on January 26 in the Kashmir Valley, said India had no moral right to celebrate its Republic Day while it forcibly occupies Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, paying tributes to the martyrs of January 21, 1990 Gawkadal massacre, January 25, 1990 Handwara massacre and January 27, 1994 Kupwara massacre, Gilani appealed to the United Nations to probe the incidents of human rights violations through the War Crime Tribunal (WCT).He called upon the people in these areas to offer special prayers and observe complete shutdown on January 21, 25 and 27, respectively.
