POTA court charges Yasin Malik
The APHC Chairman was addressing a mammoth gathering at Juma prayers in historical Jamia mosque in Delhi, today. The Mirwaiz said that peace would remain elusive in South Asia till the Kashmir dispute was resolved. He pointed out that the Kashmiris were engaged in a peaceful struggle to secure their inalienable right to self-determination.
Earlier, the APHC Chairman expressed the same views at a reception, hosted in his honour by the Shahi Imam of Jamia Masjid Delhi, Syed Ahmad Bukhari, at the latter’s residence in Delhi. Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi and Nayeem Ahmad Khan accompanied the Mirwaiz, on the occasion.
On the other hand, the JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik was charged, today, by a POTA court in Jammu for his alleged involvement in strengthening the armed struggle in the occupied territory.
The spokesperson for the forum patronised by veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar, expressed grave concern over deteriorating health of illegally detained Hurriyet leader Pir Saifulluh. The forum demanded immediate release of all detained Hurriyet leaders and activists.
APHC leader Zafar Akbar Butt, addressing a meeting at Chadoora in Badgam, urged India to revoke the draconian laws including, Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Jammu and Kashmir. Another APHC leader Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, speaking at a gathering in Srinagar, appealed to the United Nations to impress upon India to stop brutalities in the occupied territory.
The authorities placed the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Farida Behnji under house arrest.
