Kulgam college professor booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act

Cracking a whip on anti-India elements, Kulgam Police has booked a college professor under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for carrying out secessionist activities.

A case against the professor, identified as Dr Abdul Bari Naik, has been registered at Police Station Kulgam under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Dr Bari, who works as Assistant Professor at Degree College Kulgam, has been booked under section 13 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other sections 153A and section 153 of RPC too have been slapped on him for provoking people and forcing them to join secessionist movement.

A copy of FIR (191/18-Dated 23-11-2018 u/s 153, 353 RPC and section 13 of ULA Act) registered against the college professor lies with Early Times.

Police claims that college professor actively participates in anti-nation activities and even provokes local population against security forces.

“He (Abdul Bari Naik) provokes people and asks them to demand removal of camps of security forces and even has uploaded a video on social media in which he can be seen provoking people against the state,” reads the contents of FIR copy.

However, Kulgam professor denied the charges and blamed top officers of Kulgam District Administration for forcing police to register a ‘baseless’ case against him.

“From last five years now, I am raising voice against corruption and particularly against illegal mining in the district and have often filled applications under RTI Act and sought information from different departments and exposed scams and scandals. This is the reason a top officer managed to get me booked by the police,” he claimed.

Dr Bari said that the officer earlier to file complaints against him with college authorities but all the time inquiry committee would not only exonerate him from the charges but would submit the reports with god compliments in the office of concerned officer.

“I have also approached Governor Satya Pal Malik and hope justice is done with me,” he added.
