PDP denied permission to hold public meeting at Bhaderwah
Bhaderwah, September 16: Lambasting the ruling National Conference (NC) for turning Jammu and Kashmir into a police state by gagging dissent voices through oppressive measures, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today said that NC was scared about the policies and agenda of her party.
Addressing a workers meeting at Bhaderwah Dak Bunglow after party was denied permission to hold public meeting at the already fixed venue, PDP chief regretted that present regime was behaving in dictatorial manner and not allowing opposition to perform its role. “I fail to understand why this government is so paranoid about PDP”, she and pointed out on Thursday problems were created to sabotage party’s programme at Doda and today permission was denied to party to organise public meeting where large number of people were turned up.
“Opposition has important role in democracy. Without opposition democracy could not flourish”, she said but regretted that since its formation NC led regime has been indulged into undemocratic means and brazenly using oppressive measures to stifle dissent voice. “The brutal use of force to create false impression of peace would be proved disastrous for the state”, she cautioned.
Expressing her anguish over denial of permission to hold public meeting at Bhaderwah, Mehbooba appealed to her party workers to obey law and don’t create law and order problem. “Since our party has played a pivotal role in bringing peace and normalcy in the State, so we must not do any thing to jeopardize the same despite provocation by the government”, she and reiterated resolve of PDP to restore sustainable peace in the State.
