World realises urgency of Kashmir resolution: Mirwaiz House arrest of Gilani condemned, Shabbir detained

Srinagar, October 14 :The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the international community has realised the urgency of resolving the Kashmir dispute and this has been by virtue of the unparalleled sacrifices offered by the Kashmiri people.

The APHC Chairman addressing a gathering at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, said following the uprising in the occupied territory since 2008 India had no option but to settle the dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. He said that India should come forward and start meaningful dialogue with Pakistan and the Kashmiris to bring about a durable solution to the lingering dispute. The Mirwaiz appealed to the Kashmiri people to frustrate the designs of the elements that wanted to divide them on communal and sectarian lines.

The forum patronised by the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in a meeting in Srinagar strongly denounced the continued house arrest of the veteran leader and the inhuman treatment meted out to the illegally detained Kashmiris at Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, addressing a condolence meeting in Budgam held in connection with the death of the sister of senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, appealed to the international community to play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. The JKLF-R leader, Javed Ahmed Mir addressing on the occasion rejected the report of New Delhi-appointed interlocutors on Kashmir.

On the other hand, Indian police arrested senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah in Budgam while he was on his way to Beerwah where he was scheduled to address a public gathering.

In London, the Advisory Council of Kashmir Centre in a meeting chaired by Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, took stock of the latest situation of occupied Kashmir and expressed serious concern over the gross human rights violations by Indian troops in the territory.
