Srinagar, January 22: Senior leaders of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, have said that permanent peace in South Asia and cordial relations between Pakistan and India cannot be established without resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Professor Abdul Ghani Butt in a media interview in Srinagar said that any settlement of the lingering dispute that didn’t reflect the wishes of Kashmiri people would not be durable. He stressed for inclusion of Kashmiris in the talks process between Pakistan and India.
Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs. He deplored that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world, but it had usurped all democratic rights of the people of the occupied territory.The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in his statement urged India to take steps to create conducive atmosphere for resolving the lingering dispute through tripartite talks.
At a special Kashmir session of Jaipur Literary Festival in India, three Kashmiri writers, Iftikhar Gilani, Maqbool Sahil and Zamrooda Habib, presented their perspectives on the Kashmir dispute with particular reference to their agonizing experiences in Indian jails during their imprisonment. A sizeable section of the audience on the occasion said that for the first time they had come to know about the real situation of occupied Kashmir.
In London, speakers at a function appealed to the international community to use its influence to stop massive human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and help in restoring the democratic rights of the Kashmiri people. The speakers included the heads of Kashmir Centres in London and Brussels, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and former AJK minister, Chaudhry Tariq Farooq.
