Anantnag, Apr 21 : Protests erupted in South Kashmir's Anantnag district after a police constable, who was later suspended for his action, allegedly smashed the window panes of private Santro car resulting into serious injuries to a newborn and his mother. Witness to the action of police constable, identified as Mohammad Ayoub (1775A) scores of people assembled at Janglat Mundi area and raised slogans against the police. They blocked the road for several hours; however Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Ghulam Mohammad Dar along with few police officials reached the spot in time and pacified the protesters assuring strict action against the police constable.
Bilal Ahmed Gaada, who was driving the vehicle, told Early Times Plus that he was trying to find a slot for parking his vehicle after his wife was discharged from local private nursing home. "I was carrying my new born baby and wife and was trying to find a slot for parking vehicle when the police constable smashed window panes of vehicle that left my wife and baby injured."
He said. Eyewitnesses however said that the police constable was clearing traffic jam and the driver was driving in wrong side of the road. Station House Officer Anantnag confirmed that the erring constable, Mohammad Ayoub (1775A) has been put under suspension till further orders and an inquiry committee has been constituted to probe the matter.
