Army Organized Inter AGS T-20 Cricket Tournament


Kulgam, Nov.14:  In order to provide the Students of Army Goodwill Schools of the valley, a platform to showcase their cricketing skills and to boost up sporting culture in these schools, aT-20 Cricket tournament, ‘Awam aur Aman’, was organised by 9 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of 2 sector Rashtriya Rifles.
 
The series commenced on 03 Nov 2011 and culminated with the grand finale on 13 Nov 2011 at Sports Stadium, Kulgam.  The tournament comprised of 9 teams divided into two Pools.The final match proved to be a nail biting one with no team yielding an inch. AGS Behibag won the toss and elected to Feild first. AGS Ahagom scored 112 runs for 09 wickets in the first innings. Finally the skill, temperament and determination of AGS, Behibag helped them overcome their opponents as they scored the required runs in 17.3 overs and won the match by two wickets.Mr Rayees Ahmad from AGS Behibag was adjudged “Man of the Series” for his dominating performance throughout the series.
 The chief guest on the occasion, Brigadier SK Singh, Officiating GOC, Counter Insurgency Force (Victor), felicitated both the teams for their outstanding performances and exhorted them to keep up the spirit of cricket going. He gave away trophies and prizes to both the teams and also assured to have more such tournaments organised in future, to meet the aspirations of the youth of Kashmir.
