Srinagar, November 09: Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Prof. Abdul Ghani Butt has emphasised the need for resolving the Kashmir dispute through meaningful and result-oriented talks, which he said was imperative for durable peace in the region.
Prof. Abdul Ghani Butt in a statement in Srinagar said that Pakistan and Indian had fought three wars over Jammu and Kashmir, which had adversely damaged the economies of the two countries. He hoped that the prime ministers of the two countries would focus on resolving the longstanding dispute during their meeting on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in Maldives. He also appealed to the SAARC countries to play their key role in finding out the solution to the Kashmir dispute by encouraging Pakistan and India to hold talks and creating conducive atmosphere for the resolution of the dispute.
Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Ashraf Sahrai, renowned intellectual Z.G Abdul Majeed Zargar, Dr Javed Iqbal and people hailing from various walks of life visited veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani’s residence at Sopore and expressed condolence with him over the death of his brother.
