Bandipora police busts militant gang, 3 members arrested


Srinagar, January 14: Bandipora police has arrested three members of a militant gang involved in the attack of an army man namely Reyaz Ahmad Lone at Naidkhai, Bus Stand.
On 24th November -2011 a gang of militants struck at Naidkhai Bus stand and resorted to indiscriminate firing on a TA personnel namely Reyaz Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone, resident of Hurpora Naidkhai. In the incident two more civilians got injured. Police and 13 RR swung into action and cordoned off the area. While the injured was shifted to Hospital, a hunt was lunched against the militants involved in the act. The scene of crime suggested, that act was done by some professional and daring criminal as such the indicators pointed towards released militants and criminals.

A number of such characters were called in Police station and examined thoroughly, in the context of the incident, the clue struck on 10-01-2012 when the name of one Tariq Ahmad Wani with militant back ground surfaced in the act of terrorism. The above said suspect was called and interrogated who divulged that “he along with Mohd Yousaf Dar, Ghulam Mohd Wani residents of Pushwari and Ghulam Hassan Wani, resident of Naidkhai hatched a criminal conspiracy prior to Eidul Izza to eliminate force personnel. Subsequently on 24th November 2011 at about 06:30 PM they found Reyaz Ahmad Lone TA man in the bus stand Naidkhai and accordingly without losing any opportunity shot him on his face causing sever injuries to him along with other two”. All the members of the gang except one Mohd Yousaf Dar have been arrested and weapon of offence has been recovered by Police and 13 RR. Thus the gang has been busted and members have been put behind the bars and case cracked.
It is worth to mention, that the two members of the gang namely Tariq Ahmad Wani and Ghulam Mohd Wani are also involved in militancy related incidents in Srinagar, Sopore and Sumbal where case FIR No. 32/2007 under section 307-RPC, 7/27 A Act- police station Marajgung FIR No. 160/2006 under section 7/25 A Act- police station Sumbal are registered against the duo. They had been previously detained under PSA as well.
