PAHLOO, KULGAM, Jan 1: Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo Saturday said that development of rural and far flung areas is the top priority of present Government, adding attention is not being only paid to provide basic amenities like road connectivity, adequate water and power supply but health and education sectors are equally being treated on priority.
The Minister was addressing a large public gathering at Pahloo in Kulgam district of South Kashmir today.
The Minister said that work is in full swing on three mega projects costing Rs. 56 crore in Noorabad area which include prestigious Nandimarg-Gool Gulab Garh road (the alternate highway), Liasoo-Damhal road and Bushi Nallah Bridge. These projects when completed will provide communication facilities to about 30,000 people of the area, she added.
The Minister announced that Damhal Adjan Bridge will be taken up for construction in March 2012 at an estimated cost of Rs. 9 crore. She further announced that work on Government Degree College, Damhal Hanjipora will be started soon.
The Minister said that as many as 350 works are in progress under MG NREGA in Pahloo block at a cost of Rs. 2.50 crore. She directed Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam to take up additional works amounting to Rs. 1.50 crore under MG NREGA in Pahloo. She also announced construction of 10 IAY units in Pahloo block out of his Constituency Development Fund.
Ms. Sakina said that a new era of development has started in the nook and corner of J&K under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah.
Referring to the streamlining of power supply, the Minister said 126 (25 KV) Transformers have been installed in Kulgam district under RGGVY during current financial year, while 423 damaged transformers have been repaired and reinstalled in the district. She further said that 100 KV six transformers have been installed in Noorabad Halqa under Constituency Development Fund.
Ms. Sakina called upon the youth to differentiate between good and bad, adding hollow slogans cannot mislead the youth. She said Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah have given an identity to the youth which needs to be carried forward in letter and spirit.
The Minister said that she played an important role in giving Pahloo village block level status. She listed all works executed in the area during last 3 years. She assured people that their demands will be fulfilled in a phased manner at a shortest possible time.
The Minister was accompanied by senior officers of local administration.
