Anantnag, January: 10: In keeping with the Army’s endeavour to provide soccour to the AWAM, all the units/Sectors of Victor Force pulled out all the stops over the last few days when the Valley has been stuck by heavy snowfall and provide solace to the Awam facing numerous difficulties due to break in basic facilities and amenities. Army dispatched numerous patrols with an aim to provide all assistance especially medical help to the sick and elderly AWAM who found it difficult to move out of their houses due tofreezing cold.
A large number of villages of Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shupiyan, Ganderbal and Badgam districts benefitted from these humanitarian efforts. Free medicines were distributed by the Army Doctors moving from house to house. In addition, all units through open the Medical set up at Battalion Headquarters. Apart from this, the soldiers also helped the government workers in re-erecting the fallen electric poles and lines. The aged and infirm were assisted in snow clearance off their houses and mobile generators provided for on the spot charging points for phones. Some of the poor families were provided food and blankets and drinking water was provided at various locations. The soldiers stepped in to recover a large number of stranded vehicles on the roads after snow clearance was carried out. This gesture of the Army was highly appreciated by one and all and strengthened further the ties between the AWAM and the JAWAN.
