Shutdown, clashes greet Omar Abdullah in Kulgam

Kulgam, April 16: In yet another embarrassment after Shopian, Shutdown and clashes greeted chief minister Omar Abdullah in Kulgam and Qimoh townships of this southern district on Wednesday.  Chief Minister’s presence in the town created law and order problem resulting minor injuries to one of the CRPF jawan in the area during evening clashes.

Reports said that as soon as Chief Minister’s cavalcade reached government secondary school in Qimoh, Youths in numbers came out and resorted to stone pelting, enforcing shopkeepers to close down the shops, However none of the stone hit the cavalcade due to tight security. Security forces later swiftly chased away the stone pelting youth.
Stone pelting in the town resulted thin attendance at the chief minister’s rally that was organized by the party at Eid Gah Qimoh.  
Similarly, Minutes before Chief Minister Omar Abdullah along with party candidate for Anantnag-parliamentary constituency Mehboob Beg arrived in Kulgam town shopkeepers closed their shops and business establishments as mark of protest. Shops remained closed till Omar Abdullah concluded his party rally inside the town hall of the town.
Reports said that Youth of the town has categorically refused to entertain the chief Minister in the town which is believed to be the batons of CPIM Leader M Y Tarigami, Howvere the situation remain normal excluding minor stone pelting incidents.
Meanwhile, during evening clashes in Qimoh town of the district a CRPF Jawan sustained minor injuries.
