Probe ordered into subletting of operation of LAWDA STPs

Srinagar, November 13, 2018: After Early Times Report, Jammu
and Kashmir Lakes and Waterways Development Authority on Tuesday ordered a
probe into the allegation of subletting of operation of Sewage Treatment Plants.
In order to ascertain the factual position and to bring out
the dereliction (if any) in the operation of various Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs)
at Laam, Habaak and Hazratbal for which contract for operation was awarded to
M/s Earth Water Ltd, Windsor Commerce Building, office No. 2/8/1, 48 Baner
Road, Vascon Paradise society, Banner Pune-411045 on 29.08.2018 and to enquire
into the allegations of subletting of the operation of Sewage Treatment Plants
mentioned aforesaid,” reads the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar,
Syed Aabid Rasheed Shah, who is also the Vice-Chairman of Lakes and Waterways
Development Authority.
Vice-Chairman LAWDA has constituted a committee and asked
the committee to submit its report within three days.
“Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar will head the
committee and submit report within three days,” reads the order.
Early Times earlier published a detailed report regarding the
subletting of operation of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
According to a letter, available with early Times, on 1st
of November, Earth Water-firm wrote to Executive Engineer Mechanical Division
Jammu and Kashmir Lakes and Waterways Development Authority and informed that
they have authorized a local firm M/S Nawab Rehbar Service Pvt Ltd for
execution of operation of sewage treatment plants at Laam, Habak and Hazratbal.
Meanwhile Sources revealed to Early Times Chief Secretary,
J&K has also taken a serious note of Early Times report and directed DC
Srinagar to look into the allegations.
