Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) legislator from
Kashmir, Sofi Yousuf on Wednesday made controversial remarks by saying that Governor’s
rule in Jammu and Kashmir was actually BJP rule.
“Today we have government in Center. Here in the state we
have Governor Raj that is also ours,” Sofi Yousuf told a gathering at his residence
in Housing Colony Khanabal Anantnag.
“Tomorrow it will be again our government,” he further said
while disclosing the names of Schedule Tribe committee members.
Sofi Yousuf, who hails from Srigufwara village of Anantnag
district, is a member of Legislative Council. He has contested many assembly
and parliamentary elections unsuccessfully from Pahalgam and Anantnag
constituencies respectively.
It’s not for the first time that a BJP Leader has tried to
imply that his party-BJP- is indirectly ruling the state through Governor Rule.
Earlier BJP State Chief Ravinder Raina, has claimed that new Governor Satya Pal
Malik is “our man” and trying to imply that he would be working at the behest
of the saffron party.
In the video that went viral on Social Media sites, Raina boasts:
“Naya Governor apna banda hai (the new Governor is our man)”.
Due to fox utterances of BJP Leaders, Imagine of Governor
Satya Pal Malik and his office stand dented as it is widely believed that he
Governor’s office is impartial and functions sans any prejudice or partiality
for the people and for their welfare.
On June 20th, Jammu and Kashmir came under Governor's
rule after Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government
collapsed on Tuesday, June 19.
The Mehbooba Mufti-led government collapsed after the BJP
pulled out of the coalition listing a range of reasons from upsurge in violence
in the Valley to the state government "failing in its
responsibilities".
