National Conference
Leader and former Member of Legislative Council Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri
Saturday said that his party if comes to power in Jammu and Kashmir will
stop Army’s ‘Operation All Out’ currently underway in the state.
“National
Conference has always preached single ideology. Ideology that wants the
preservation of state’s special identity and we have always worked for
dignity and honor of people. Any operation initiated against common
people will condemned and National Conference will go opposite to all
such operations,” Veeri told media reporter after addressing a workers
meeting in Housing Colony Khanabal.
When
asked that will National Conference stop ‘Operation All Out’ if it
comes to power, Veeri responded in affirmation and said, “Yes, It is
time to address the aspirations of people. It is genocide taking place
here. Our kids are being killed every day. On one side you are saying
that they misguided students then on the other side we bring full
brigrade to kill them. This isn’t justice. It’s time to bring these kids
to mainstream.”
On
being asked how they (NC Government) will tackle militancy if the
‘Operation All Out’ is stopped, Veeri said that they too have faced such
situation earlier but never went against the aspirations of people.
“We
are worked before as well. Governor adminstration has completely
failed. They are taking arbitrary decisions. I challenge them to bring
back 2014 situation. There were shortcomings but we will work and take
into account the aspirations of people,” he added.
‘Operation
All Out’-a major offensive against the militancy, was launched by Army
last year to wipe out militancy in Kashmir particularly in South
Kashmir. As many as 258 militants from various outfits were shortlisted
for the operation, which has been launched strategically in parts of
Kashmir.
Army
Chief, J&K Director General of Police had commanded forces for
achieving success and executing the ‘Operation All Out’ with great
synergy in Kashmir. In 2017, Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have
killed 48 militants. So far in 2018, Security forces killed 163
militants in Kashmir
Most
encounters broke out in south Kashmir Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian
districts where 89 millitants were killed and in north Kashmir 39
millitants were eliminated.
