Over 1000 Cr remain unspent, 15K families still wait for
help
The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narender Modi has
failed to disburse relief money among displaced families of Pakistan Occupied
Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) and Chhamb despite the passage of more than two years
now.
An amount of 929.32 crores has been distributed among 20,
940 beneficiaries so far while as 1070.68 crores remain unspent till date and
over 15240 families are still waiting for the help from Government of India
despite the passage of over 40 years now.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has revealed above details
while responding RTI application filled by National President Kisan Welfare
Organisation and RTI Activist Rohit Choudary.
Rahit Choudary, last year in the month of November filled
RTI application and sought details from the ministry about the relief money
disbursed among the displaced families.
"This Ministry has disbursed an amount of Rs 929.32
Crores among 20, 940 beneficiaries of PoJK and Chhamb (1965 & 1971) through
DBT mode directly in their Adhar-linked bank accounts till 30/11/2018"

According to details, Prime Ministers Development Package of
80,000 crores was sanctioned for the State of Jammu and Kashmir in November
2015 and under the package a sum of Rs 2000 crores was approved for 36384 POJK displaced families.
Earlier in a written statement, Union minister of state for
home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir had told the Rajya Sabha that the financial package
was sanctioned on December 22, 2016.
He had claimed that 36,384 families were provided Rs 5.5
lakh each.
“The Government of India provided a financial assistance of
Rs 5.5 lakh per family to 36,384 displaced families of Pakistan-occupied Jammu
and Kashmir (PoJK) area (1947) and Chhamb (1965 and 1971) living in Jammu and
Kashmir,” Ahir was quoted having said.
He had also calimed that based on the details provided by
the Jammu and Kashmir government, the ministry had disbursed a total amount of
Rs 465.5 crore to 9,537 families directly to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts
up to last month.
