PDP, BJP wants elections in state to be pushed back: Omar Abdullah

Former Chief Minister and Vice-president Jammu Kashmir National Confrence, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday accused Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of approaching New Delhi and seeking deferment of elections in the state.

"We made to clear that our party (NC) is ready for polls. As per Supreme Court orders election commission has to conduct elections in the state within six months but its Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has to decide," Omar Abdullah told media here at Kundroo Anantnag after visiting family of deceased party block President Shangus.

He said that ECI team was forced to cancel visit as Prime Minister is scheduled to visit all three regions of state-Jammu, Kashmor and Ladakh. 

"Holding elections in the state is a litmus test for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Either he (PM) has deteriorated the law amd order situation to such an extent that elections can't be held on time but it's Prime Minister who is supposed to decide but we wants elections on time," he said. 

Omar Abdullah alleged that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were approaching New Delhi and seeking deferment of elections in the state. 

"PDP and BJP are attempting to defer the elections in the state as they are approaching center (Central Government)," he added.
