Saahil Suhail, Watangoonad,Nov. 29: Stating that the Army will continue to carry People-friendly Initiatives and to provide helping hand to the downtrodden people of Valley, Maj. General Gurdeep Singh, GOC Victor Force, on Monday, said that Valley is witnessing a change. Evidently, a change for good.
“I thank to the people of valley for providing a support in prevailing peace in Kashmir and thus year 2011 remained peaceful that was our comment further we comment was to help local administration in solving day to day problems of general people faced by them and we contributed in our way.” GOC Said while talking to media on the sidelines of Function, adding that besides carry these activities army is with the help of people of valley Army is continuing its insurgency operations in the valley in order to zero down militancy level.
Earlier, GOC Victor Force, Maj Genral Gurdeep Singh dedicated newly repaired Ziarat of Noor Baghdadi’,located at village Waltingu in District Kulgam to the locals. In an attempt to restore the reign of Kashmiriyat,
The Ziarat was badly damaged by an unfortunate fire accident that occurred due to an electric short circuit on 10 Oct 2011. Army undertook the repair and renovation work of the Ziarat- ‘Noor Baghdadi’,located at village Waltingu in District Kulgam. 9th Rashtriya Rifles Battalion which is located in area took the resolve to restore the previous glory of Ziarat by undertaking the responsibility of its repair and renovation. Work was started with immediate effect under the aegis of Headquarter, 2 Sector RR and willing support of the locals. The final phase of restoration work reached its culmination on 26th Nov. Completion of the work was marked by a grand ceremony where in the newly repaired Ziarat was dedicated to the locals. The event was attended by DC Kulgam & all police, CRPF and civil dignitaries apart from religious heads and huge local crowd. In order to rule out the possibility of such unfortunate accidents in future, firefighting equipment have also been installed in the Ziarat by the Battalion.
Locals on the occasion thanked 9RR and also demanded a recruitment drive in the far flung area as a number of youth of village are unemployed. They showed their gratitude towards the noble deed of Indian Army and showing high regards towards their religious sentiments by ensuring the completion prior to snowfall, thus saving Kashmir ’s heritage from damage.
