Beigh demands interlocutors report to be publicized

Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, Nov. 09: while demanding interlocutors report, submitted by them earlier this year to Home Ministry should be publicized Member Parliament Dr Mehboob Beigh on Wednesday, while talking to media on the sidelines of the function at District Hospital Anantnag, said that it is favorable time for the revocation of controversial Act ‘AFSPA’.

“Center should come clear on the report of interlocutors, earlier this year submitted to Home Ministry for resolution of long pending Kashmir issue and also report should be publicized so that every citizen of the state should come to know what they have recommended for the political road map of Jammu and Kashmir.” Beigh Said adding that the interlocutors were appointed by New Delhi a year ago to design a political road map for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
On the issue of revocation of controversial Law ‘AFSPA’ Beigh said, “AFSPA is temporary situation and the time has come to get this act revoked as the normalcy has returned to the valley and it is the need of the hour to start revocation of the law from certain areas of the state.” Adding that this year more than 10 lac tourists have visited Kashmir and record breaking Amarnath Yatries have done pilgrimage without any disturbance, which is the sign of normalcy, So the need of hour is that AFPSA like black laws should get revoked.
It is worth to mention that the New Delhi appointed three interlocutors a year ago after a summer of enormous unrest in the valley. More that 120 people were killed in clashes between security forces and stone palters most of them were young men.
The interlocutors in their repot submitted to Home Ministery suggested center to revoke AFSPA from certain parts of the area of Jammu and Kashmir and also create jobs for the unemployed youth of the state.
Pertinently, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah publicly make announcement of revocation of AFSPA from certain parts of Jammu and Kashmir before Drabar Move but he failed to revoke AFSPA as he didn’t get green signal from unified command and State Congress.
Observers say that revocation of AFSPA would not be possible until Disturbed Areas Act (DAA) is not withdrawn from the areas where the government feels situation has vastly improved. Withdrawal of DAA requires convening of special session of Assembly where a bill on the same would have to be passed and sent to the Governor for assent as well as promulgation. Governor's assent would get DAA lifted and hence, AFSPA would become redundant in those areas.
