Srinagar:Amid elaborate security arrangements, President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil arrived on a three-day visit to the state Thursday evening. Officials said that the Governor, N N Vora, who is also chancellor of the Vaishno Devi University, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah received Patil at Jammu airport.
Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services and Sports, R S Chib, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, Director General Police, Kuldeep Khoda and other senior civil and police officers were also present at the airport.
The president is schedule to address the convocation at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and offer payers at the Vaishno Devi shrine tomorrow.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Jammu with special commando teams deployed at key places.
On Tuesday last, Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda reviewed security scenario in the Jammu division at meeting in the capital.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from police, para-military forces, intelligence and civil administration at Police Control Room.
