Deputy Commissioner Anantnag today placed Assistant Executive Engineer of irrigation and flood control department under suspension for allegedly committing the negligence which resulted death of a teenage girl.
According to the details available with Early Times, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag S.Biswas today visited the Dooru irrigation dam and took stock of the situation raised after teenage girl died in the area due to drowning in the dam along with her two other girls.
Official sources said that Deputy Commissioner Anantnag ordered a probe and constituted a committee. “The committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to submit a report within weeks of time.” Sources said.
They said that Assistant Executive Engineer of irrigation and flood control department sub-division Dooru Nisar Ahmad Khar was placed under suspension for allegedly committing negligence in installing the gate through which girls could not have entered into the premises of dam.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag when contacted confirmed that he had placed the officer under suspension. “Yes I have placed the AEE of the department under suspension.” DC said.

Meanwhile Police had also registered a case in this regard and have started the investigation. “An FIR bearing number 30/2014 u/s 147, 148, 149, 332, 336, 436, RPC-B-4 PPPB Act,” a police official confirmed.
Important to mention here that the three girls identified as Misbah Jan D/o Mohd Ayoub Rather, Naziya Jan D/o Mohd Ishaq and Meena Jan D/o Mohd Ishaq drowned in the dam when they were bathing.  Among them Misbah succumbed while as the other two girls survived and have been admitted in Srinagar hospital.
In the aftermath of the incident, protests broke out in the area resulting Law and order problem. Protesters clashed with the forces and set ablaze the rest house of the department.  
Locals alleged that incident took place because of the negligence of the concerned department. “The main gate of the dam site was stolen a year ago and despite repeated requests department  not bothered to install the new one through which this incident could have been averted.” They said appealing department to install the gate without wasting more time.
