4 months on, Budroo Phalgam reels under darkness,
Locals held protest demo, blocked Bijbehara-Langanbal road

Anantnag, May 26:
Hundreds of men, women and children of Village Budroo in South
Kashmir's Phalgam tehsil on Monday staged a strong protest
demonstration against the Power development department for their
indifferent attitude in installing the transformer which got damaged
in April month of this year.
Protesters raised high pitched slogans against the department and
blocked the busy Bijbehara-Langnabal road resulting serve difficulties
to employees, school going children and to Phalgam visiting outside
state tourists.

According to local the village is reeling under darkness since from
last four months and the department has failed in mitigating their
problems. They said besides repeated requests and submission
department has neither repaired the transformer nor installed the
upgraded one, which was allotted to village in year 2013.
"Last year our village was included in the list of 13 villages and
according to the on ground feasibility were upgraded but it is irony
that all other 12 transformers were installed in their respective
villages but we are still being deprived of it besides we pay flat
rates even these days when we don't have the facility of electricity."
agitating Youth, Asif Bashir said.
He said that they have decided not to pay the fee till they get the
facility from the department.
Locals said that upgraded transformer was allotted to the village via
order number PSDA/794 Dated 11-09-2013 but the upgraded transformer
was installed in a nearby village by the department on political
approach.
Locals have urged Chief Engineer Power development Department to look
personnel in this matter and resolve their grievance on priority
bases.
Later senior police officials including SDPO Bijbehara and SHO
Srigufwara visited the area and pacified protesters by assuring them
that they will convey their grievance to higher ups of the department.
