11: Revenue Department and Municipal Committee Kulgam on Saturday demolished several
structures that were being constructed without adhering to procedure
According to
official reports, structures (shops) were being constructed in Laroo Bus Stand
of Kulgam on Municipal Committee Land and.
“Some people
having vested interests had attempted to raise structures but today we launched
a drive to demolish them,” Deputy Commissioner Kulgam told media.
He said that
the illegally raised structures have been demolished completely.
Assistant
Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kulgam, Mir Imtiyaz told Early Times that the structures
were raised on land that belong to Municipal Committee Land.
“Executive Officer
Municipal Committee Kulgam had already sent notices to the violator but he didn’t
stop therefore the structures were demolished today completely,”’ he added.
According to
norms, Municipal Committee Kulgam was supposed to auction the piece of land or
construct shops and then auction to them but here procedure wasn’t adopted.
President Municipal
Committee Kulgam, Mr Avinash told Early Times that elected councilors had passed
resolution but the person who was raising the structure didn’t wait for the permission.
“We had
passed a resolution and forwarded to Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir but he
hadn’t yet approved it. The person who was raising this structure didn’t wait
and started constructing shops without availing proper permission,” he said,
adding his only intention is to create assets for Kulgam Municipal Committee so
that causal labors and employees gets wages at the end of the month.
