Srinagar,
May 6: In a bizarre incident reported from south Kashmir’s Pulwama
during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Election, the supports of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly thrashed a Congress polling agent at
Rajpora village.
A video
from Rajpora segment of Pulwama district went viral on social media
where a Congress worker was allegedly beaten by the PDP workers.
Sources
said that Arif Amin, a close associate of PDP Leader Waheed-ur-Rehman
Para spotted thrashing congress polling agent inside polling Boot No.
113 in Naira Rajpora Pulwama.
They said that the clash ended after forces personnel stationed at the booth intervened.
Jammu
and Kashmir Pardesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad Mir
condemned the incident and alleged that his polling agents were
terrorized and threatened on gun point.
Meanwhile,
Congress party in a statement said that the PDP Worker Waheed Ur Rehman
Parra who had captured Booth No. 113 at GHSS Naira since morning used
muscle power and a weapon (pistol) to overthrow polling agents of
Congress Party, besides his close associates beat Congress worker
ruthlessly, leaving him grievously injured.
Congress
Party sought repolling on these booths and emphasize the Chief
Electoral Officer of J&K and concerned returning officer to order
repoll to ensure free and fair elections, he added and said the matter
has already been reported to Returning Officer for immediate necessary
action.
Congress emphasized the CEO to take strong notice of booth capturing by PDP.
