Anantnag packed up by Eid Shoppers

Anantnag, Nov. 06: On the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, markets across the valley especially Anantnag District witnessed heavy rush with commercial hub of the district , Lal Chowk, being virtually flooded with shoppers on Sunday

Thousands of shoppers including men and women thronged market, to buy clothes; crockery and other home need items.

The commercial area of district was teeming with activity with people jostling against one another to make space for moving as pavement and some stretch of the streets continue to be occupied by the vendors who had erected stalls to showcase varied commodities, ranging from food items to household accessories.
With the occupying of the space normally meant for pedestrians, the traffic through the area moved at snail speed, with some shoppers complaining to have lost more than an hour in covering mere two kilometers distance from one spot to another in the district here. While as almost every shop including readymade garment showrooms, foot wear and crockery shops were abuzz with activity, bakery and confectionary shops were virtually mobbed by the people.
Sale of sacrificial animals also reached its peak as people thronged Sports Stadium Anantnag, market for the sacrificial animals in the town
Reports of shopping rush was also received from all tehsil  headquarters including Bijbehara, Phalgam, Dooru, Qazigund and Mattan
