229 Indian troops commit suicide since Jan, 07
Srinagar, November 24 : APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah has emphasised that the recent steps towards creating a friendly environment between Pakistan and India will boost the process of resolving the Kashmir dispute, once and for all.
In a media interview in Srinagar, today, Shabbir Ahmad Shah said that the people of Kashmir had welcomed confidence-building measures between the two neighbouring countries. He maintained that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute was imperative for a durable peace in the region and guarantee to a lasting friendship between Pakistan and India.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, Ghulam Ahmad Mir addressing a meeting in Thana Mandi, Rajouri, appealed to the international community to impress upon India to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute.
Addressing a conference in New Delhi, the General Secretary of the High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen urged India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute through peaceful means in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
On the other hand, an Indian trooper committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at his camp in Rajouri. This raised the number of such deaths among Indian troops and police personnel in the territory to 229 since January 2007.
Body of a civilian was recovered from Kupwara, and two persons were injured in a blast in Pattan. Dozens of people were wounded in a train accident in Islamabad town, today.
